Angels Investing More in Less

Business First is profiling the change in angel investment patterns.
Angel investors provided $12.7 billion in funding to 24,500 entrepreneurs during the first half of 2006, according to the Center for Venture Research at the University of New Hampshire.The amount invested was up 15 percent compared with the same period in 2005, but the number of entrepreneurs receiving the money was down 6 percent. The size of the average deal jumped 22 percent.
The most popular sector for angel investments was health care services/medical equipment, followed by software, biotech, retail, media and IT services.
