FareCast - Seattle, WA

FareCast is a startup in Seattle, WA that predicts airfare prices based on complex algorithms and lots of data. The site allows consumers to decide if it’s smart to buy a ticket now, or to wait, and it gives you a degree of confidence in the prediction. You can read more about how it works here. The site is built on technology that was profiled in 2003.

Money Raised - Three rounds, A round - $1.5 million, B round - $7 million, C round - $12 million.
Funding Sources - Initial round is from Madrona, a Seattle firm. Later rounds are from companies in the Valley.
Team - A computer science professor from Washington State, and an ex-Priceline executive.
