CollegeMedum.com - Classifieds For Colleges
By Jason | March 22, 2007
We just got a tip about CollegeMedium.com, a classified site that lets you target specific schools. In speaking with George, one of the founders, we learned that the business was launched out of Atlanta, GA with no outside investors as of right now.
To bring this down to a local, more personal level, I have been noticing one thing in my community… The disconnect between various colleges in the area. It seems like they are ALWAYS competing. Students can’t network with people from different schools or see classifieds from other universities. Don’t get me wrong, competition is good. It shows that customers (students) are getting the most out of their money.
The reason I bring this up is because colleges are resources. They all have their own distinct specialties. One might be great in the business field, while another might be fantastic in information technology. There is no reason why these people shouldn’t work together!
CollegeMedium breaks that disconnect, while allowing local businesses into the mix. Think of all of the great internship and employment opportunities that can be turned out of a site like this, with true student interaction.
Ultimately, I think it has a great start. The founders recognized a need and figured out how to solve it. It is sure to be a great resource for students starting their job hunt or who are looking to unload a few textbooks.
