Twitter Me This, Twitter Me That
By Adam | March 24, 2007
Twitter, the now infamous service for letting the world know ‘what you are doing’, has been getting A LOT of press lately. Although it was launched nearly a year ago, a brilliant marketing strategy at SXSW has catapulted the service to the foreground of the blogosphere conversation.
While many people have the “warm and fuzzies” for Twitter, I have heard enough about the service. In the right circumstance this is a great tool, but is it worthy of the buzz? Is this an example of innovation, or is it merely annoying? For me, it is hard to get excited about receiving dull alerts from the daily chaos of someone else’s life. With the amount of information I already have to sift through in a day, Twitter seems to just add to the clutter.
Business Week covers both sides of the debate here.

Pops, thanks for the link. It will be interesting to see what Jittrr looks like when it gets off the ground. Like Twitter, however, I am highly suspicious of the usefulness of this application.
The truly innovative tools that witness widespread adoption are those that add value to people’s lives. While these tools are ‘neat’, I don’t see a fundamental positive impact. Then again, Twitter might have just scratched the surface; the next generation of applications, like Jittrr, might change my perspective.
