IQzone.com - Mobile Classifieds Application
By Jason | March 27, 2007
IQzone puts an interesting spin on online classified ads… The service lets you take a picture with your phone, attach a few lines of text, and then it posts it for you.
No computer, no internet, just a phone that can do SMS.
IQzone has a number of things going for them. First off, the SMS service ties in brilliantly with major classifieds sites; Craigslist, Oodle, Ebay, etc. Secondly, there is actually a dictionary that has been put together that associates all of the text messaging nuisances with actual words. It can automatically figure out that you want to sell a Land Rover for $22,000 by just typing those phrases.
The founders, Michael Bates and James Ferguson, both have tremendous experience in software and management, as well as mobile applications. Between them, they have done everything from mobile messaging gateways to biotech.
It will be interesting to watch this application grow because the implications are extremely varied. I could see this system applied to real estate, rental property, vacations, as well as a host of other niches. I think that online classifieds are just a very easy start.

I am very interested to see the potential of SMS, mobile based services like this one - especially within North America. People in Europe and Asia have integrated this technology into their lives for years - but aside from ringtones, I haven’t seen the same degree of adoption here in the States. The increased adoption of smart phones that will likely occur after the release of the iPhone makes this scenario even more interesting to follow.
