KillerStartups.com - Launch Here
By Jason | May 10, 2007
On May 3rd, KillerStartups.com passed an impressive milestone - 1,000 Internet startups reviewed after only three months!
KillerStartups has an interesting twist to a normal startup profiler; they let readers vote on what will be a hot company in the future. From video to mobile; nearly 20 startups are profiled each day. Users can submit new startups, and then the community votes them up or down. The perceived result is that the more votes, the closer to being the next big thing.
The backend is handled by Pligg’s content management system, which is brilliant, open source software that allows you to control a digg-like voting site.
The sites founders are serial entrepreneurs themselves, so they know a thing or two about being successful. Gonzalo Arzuaga founded a search engine in 1996 in Argentina that he sold in 1999 to Terra/Lycos, and is also a successful author. Matias de Tezanos founded Hoteles.com, Healthcare.com, and others. I personally suspect that he has some pretty strong roots in domaining as well!
